Industrial humanoids require more than robot hardware
Humanoid robots are increasingly being developed for production, logistics and other industrial environments. The transition from controlled development settings into real operations creates additional requirements for protection, maintainability, availability and physical system safety.
Damage to exposed external areas can affect more than repair costs. It can also influence sensors, motion sequences, maintenance processes and the conditions under which operation may safely continue.
Cybershell therefore does not develop the humanoid robot itself. The company focuses on the physical interface between the robot and the real industrial environment.
The development approach
The intended Cybershell architecture is based on modular, replaceable external components with defined mechanical and functional interfaces.

Current development status
Cybershell is currently developing and validating its first mechanical architecture. The immediate scope is deliberately narrow: one platform interface, one contact zone and one falsifiable mechanical scope.
The focused demonstrator is intended to examine basic mechanical principles, defined states and the exchangeability of a modular protection system. It is not a production-ready product and does not constitute a complete safety validation.
Its purpose is to create a technical basis for subsequent engineering validation, material testing and a focused industrial pilot application.
External classification and technical exchange
Cybershell contributes the question of the physical system boundary of humanoid robots to professional discussions concerning machinery safety, standardization and industrial scaling.
On 8 October 2026, Cybershell is scheduled to present the contribution “The Missing Layer of Humanoid Safety — Physical System Boundaries as a Foundation for Industrial Scaling” at the TÜV AUSTRIA SafeSec Day.
The company is also engaged in technical dialogue with organizations and specialists in standardization, certification, material testing, industrial design and industrial robotics. The status of each engagement is described separately on the Cybershell website and should not be interpreted as a blanket partnership or endorsement.
Next step
Cybershell is preparing a focused industrial pilot application. The company is seeking development and industry partners that consider not only robot hardware, but also protection, maintainability, lifecycle management and physical system safety as part of the deployment architecture.
